PRIVATE GUIDE PARIS LE MUSÉE DE LA GUERRE

THE INVALIDES – ARMY MUSEUM

THE INVALIDES – ARMY MUSEUM

“You must not fight too often with one enemy, or you will teach him all your art of war” Napoleon Bonaparte

The Hotel des Invalides was commissioned by Louis XIV in order to host all his army’s invalid or injured soldiers. Not only because of his pious consciousness but to avoid them to live on the cities streets and disturb public order. Today, in this military complex, we can visit the Army Museum, with its collection spanning from Medieval times to WWII, and two different churches (one for King and the other, for the soldiers). It’ll be here where we’ll find Napoleon I’s tomb, too!
